A core role of Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre is to provide information to individuals and groups to assist them to access events, activities and a range of local and other services.

Referral

Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre provides a referral service for individuals and groups to access other community organisations and government agencies.

Advocacy

If you are having difficulties with access to services or your rights, we can help you get the information you need. If you want us to, we can speak on your behalf or we can teach you the skills you need to do this.

Community Development

Community Development is about helping communities to do things for themselves. It is a process based on social justice principles such as equality, access, fairness, human rights, empowerment and local participation and control. We do Community Development through:

• Community consultation (eg. meetings and surveys),
• Assisting and supporting the growth and development of community groups,
• Supporting social action groups and campaigns (eg. offer resources, media profile, petitions, letter writing),
• Needs assessment (eg. collect statistics, community feedback).
