Welcome to Bellingen & Seaboard Youth Services AnnaAmyWebsite.jpg

Bellingen and Seaboard Youth Services supports and creates positive outcomes for YOU—that is all young people (12—24) who live in the Bellingen, Kalang, Thora and Seaboard – Urunga, Repton and Mylestom areas of the Bellingen Shire.

We can help you work out issues (or can put you in touch with someone who can), and can make some great things happen like band nights, workshops and skate comps! If you have an idea then why not tell us about it and we will see what we can do.

We have an office stacked full of books and brochures for you to look at and can offer use of our office facilities. We are also in the process of updating our website and would love your ideas on what to include.

R.E.N.T Program Funded By Streetsmart

Bellingen and Seaboard Youth Services have received a cheque for $2000 from StreetSmart to run the Responsible Educated New Tenant (R.E.N.T.) program with local young people.

StreetSmart runs a major fundraising event each year for the 6 weeks leading up to Christmas asking diners at 238 participating restaurants around Australia to contribute $2 or more onto their bill.  Along with other fundraising events StreetSmart were able to raise $260,000 last year and 100% of this money is distributed to organisations to assist people and families to exit and prevent homelessness.

The R.E.N.T. program will educate young people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless about their rights and responsibilities as tenants, how to best approach Real Estate agents when looking for rental accommodation, how to complete all the necessary forms and how to maintain a property.

Skills learnt during the 3 day course will be able to be used in the future when applying for rental accommodation.  The R.E.N.T. program will be facilitated by local services and is TAFE accredited.  It is anticipated that it will take place in July/August.

If you know someone who may benefit from participating in this course please contact BSYS to reserve a place on 66550167.

Bellingen and Seaboard Youth Services would like to say a big Thank You to No 2 Oak Street for participating in the StreetSmart campaign and enabling this program to take place.
