Young Artists to Exhibit Talents

Bellingen Shire young artists are being given a fantastic opportunity to have their work exhibited as well as compete for cash prizes in the Bellingen & Seaboard Youth Services Youth Week Art Exhibition.

It has become a much anticipated feature of local Youth Week (5 to 13 April 2008), in that the community gets an opportunity to see exciting new works from young artists aged 12 to 24.

For the artists, the opportunity is the exposure for their work and the chance to win $50 in each category.

There are multiple categories that young people can enter work in. The traditional categories include Painting, Drawing, 3D / Sculpture, Fashion Design / Textiles / Jewellery, Photography, Creative Writing and Film

For Creative Writing, young people can enter poetry, song lyrics and short stories (2,000 words max). For Film, young people can enter short films (20 minutes max).

This competition is only open to residents of the Bellingen & Seaboard areas (Bellingen, Thora, Gleniffer, Kalang, Urunga, Mylestom, Repton, Raleigh).

Entries close Tuesday 1 April 2008. Entry forms can be collected from the Bellingen & Seaboard Youth Services office, the Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre or downloaded below.

Artworks are to be delivered with entry forms to either the Bellingen & Seaboard Youth Service or the Bellingen Neighbourhood Centre, both located at the Council Grounds, Hyde Street, Bellingen.

The official launch and announcement of prize winners will be Monday 7 February,  5:00 pm at Bellingen Gallery and Framing Studio, Hyde Street, Bellingen. The launch will include free refreshments and a youth performance.  All are welcome.

The artworks will be on display the Gallery throughout Youth Week from 7 April to 13 April 2008.
